Annapurna Sharma
Annapurna graduated from College of Art, New Delhi, with a degree in Bachelors of Fine Arts (Painting) in 1989. Presently, working as an art teacher at Summer Fields School, Gurgaon. Other than art, she also have a passion for gardening, flower arrangement, Origami-Kirigami craftwork and cooking.
As an artist she likes putting her ideas in a natural and simplistic fashion while also experimenting with different drawing and painting mediums. Being most inspired by nature, she sees it as an endless reservoir of the simplest to the most complex of patterns. “I like to interpret the same in my own way and portray what I feel on the canvas. Art for me is cathartic as it helps me to clear my mind and add adventure and beauty to my everyday mundane life. It also keeps me grounded and is a constant reminder that the things we see are more than what meets the eye; that there is a whole other parallel form to everything around and art is what connects us to it.” Her imagery explores abstract realism, containing elements of mystery, wonder and emotion. It invites the viewer to connect to the subject of the painting. So, through her work she seeks to explore nature and its mysterious designs, and bring them forth in new forms and structures.
